Price Guide
The price of a pond varies greatly due to many factors. Here is a list of some of the most important factors to consider when budgeting for your pond project.
Pond Size
Pond size is very important and often times is limited to the layout of your area. Most ponds range between 1/4 acre and 1 acre.
Overflow Systems
There are many types of overflow systems we use. The most common are riprap, catch basins, and overflow pipes. Your overflow system is dictated by how much water flows into your pond.
Location
The right location makes a huge difference in pond building. Steep slopes are not ideal. Trees can always be removed. Extremely wet areas require a few extra steps.
Custom Features
Custom features such as islands or peninsulas often times require more planning and design when constructing a pond.
Runoff
Runoff significantly dictates a ponds overflow system and construction. Some ponds are spring fed, some require a huge area of runoff, while others are fed by a stream or creek. The less water coming in, the smaller overflow you need.
Soil Type
Clay is the best type of soil to construct a pond from. There are many different types such as blue clay, brown clay, grey clay, etc. Gravel soil is not ideal for pond construction.
